Container & Packaging Supply has two pretty awesome rectangular tins, the 3.75x2.75 flat rectangular tin (in silver, copper and black) and the 8.5x10.5 flat rectangular tin. The small container is something I would keep in my purse with mints in it. The big one is great for holding 8x10 photos (check out this blog post for more information).

3.75x2.75 Flat Rectangular Tin

I started measuring this one with the Kisses ® because I thought it would be a good container for candies. Twelve Kisses ® fit perfectly in the bottom, in a 3×4 pattern. So grab some Kisses ® and lay them on your table in a 3×4 pattern, and you will see exactly the shape of this tin. I tried putting the lid on with the Kisses ® in it, and ended up smashing the tips of them. Now I have twelve smashed Kisses ®. It is one Oreo ® plus one wafer plus one cream filling tall. It will also hold ½ a cup of M&Ms ® or rice.

8.5x10.5 Flat Rectangular Tin

As I started measuring this container, I decided that, first, I didn't have enough M&Ms ®. Or Kisses ®. Or even Oreos ®. I couldn't creatively think of a reason why food would be stored in this tin (though I'm sure somebody has a reason!), so I used a different measuring method. My 4-year-old assistant helped me by parking his Matchbox ® cars in it. He got 24 cars parked, 3×8, in the tin. The lid even fit on it when I took out all of the trucks with lift kits. I tried 8x10 photos in it, and they fit beautifully with just a little bit of wiggle room. When I put a regular piece of 8.5x11 paper in it, the paper didn't fit. So this tin is best for photos and doesn't work for regular paper. It is exactly two Oreo ® cookies tall, which would be quite a few photos!

The testing is finally done! My stomach is recovering, and the helpers are enjoying the spoils of the tests. I might have to make cookies with smashed butter and M&Ms ® or something. Hopefully you now have an idea of what products will work best for your needs. If you have more questions, feel free to request a sample or contact one of our sales representatives.
