What's in a name? Some containers simply have boring, straightforward names. Others, though, have interesting, perplexing, or simply bizarre names. Take the woozy bottle. Try as I might, I couldn't discover the source of this bottle's name (and I refuse to stoop to the levels of insanity that may or may not have been obtained when a certain other writer searched for the meaning behind the Boston Round name¦). What in the world is a woozy bottle?

When I first heard the name, thought maybe it meant dizzy or intoxicated. You get woozy when you're inebriated, right? But why name a bottle that? I figured I'd better look up exactly what woozy meant. Maybe it had some other, less commonly known meaning. Here's what I found:

woozy (adj.): stupidly confused; muddled; slightly dizzy, sick, or weak; drunken.

I guess I knew my definition correctly. But why call a bottle a woozy bottle? Is the bottle weak? Nope, it's made of high quality glass. I wouldn't exactly call it dizzy. It is clear; no psychedelic patterns swirling around on the outside. I don't think it's stupid. In fact, I think it's a rather smart-looking bottle, with its long, elegant neck and rounded shoulders.

I suppose that a woozy bottle could contain substances that might induce wooziness. But there are certainly many other uses that would be perfect for a woozy bottle. You could fill it with sauces, marinades, syrups, dressings, or beverages (and not just woozy beverages!). This woozy bottle comes in both 5 oz. and 10 oz. sizes, so you can pick the perfect one for your individual needs. It has straight sides, which are perfect for prints and labels. Just imagine seeing your product in one of these attractive bottles! Maybe you'll get woozy just from the excitement of how amazing it will look!

The conclusion I've come to is that I have no idea why a woozy bottle is named such. But it's an interesting name, and is bound to hold and pour equally interesting products.
