Tin Product Testing Part 2: 2 oz. Tins

At Container & Packaging Supply, we carry three different 2 oz. tins: the 2 oz. deep tin, the 2 oz. flat top tin (with both regular and clear lids), and the 2 oz. screw top tin. All three containers required separate testing.
(First note of business: don't let a 4-year-old help with the rice measurements. You may end up with rice all over the floor.)
2 oz. Deep Tin
The 2 oz. deep tin is nearly the same diameter as the 1 oz. flat tin. I could easily fit an Oreo ® cookie inside it with just a little bit of leeway on the sides. When I stacked the Oreos ® up, I got exactly three Oreos ® into the tin with the lid closed. I used regular Oreos ®, not Double Stuf ® or Triple Double ® or Mega Stuf ® or¦ there are a lot of different kinds of Oreos ®! Just stick with the plain, boring, single-filling Oreos ®, stack three up, and you'll have about the size, both height and diameter, of the 2 oz. deep tin. I managed to cram 73 M&Ms ® into it with the lid on, and 1/3 of a cup of rice. This is a very generous 2 oz. container!
2 oz. Flat Top Tin
The 2 oz. flat top tin (with clear and regular lid) holds 56 M&M ® candies. This is ¼ of a cup, which is a full serving! So if you want to measure out exactly one serving of M&Ms ®, this is perfect size. The rice also measured exactly ¼ a cup. This tin is quite a bit larger in diameter than an Oreo ® cookie, but I used the cookies for measuring its height. The height is one full cookie plus one cookie wafer plus one filling. So rip your Oreos ® in half and stack them up!
2 oz. Screw Top Tin
The 2 oz. screw top tin comes in both silver and gold colors. It is almost exactly the same size as the 2 oz. flat top. It held 53 M&Ms ® and a scant ¼ cup of rice. The height is identical to that of the flat top. The main difference between these two is that this one cannot be overfilled and still close properly. If it has one too many candies, then the lid will not correctly thread. If you are planning on using this tin, don't plan on filling it completely to the brim or you may run into problems when threading the lid.
On to 4 oz. tins!
