Zombies are everywhere. They're in our books, on our TVs, and our computer screens. Is the zombie apocalypse coming? I'm not sure. But if it does come, you can prepare yourself a little bit better by getting some high quality pails. You're probably asking yourself, how will plastic pails help me survive a flood of brain-hungry undead creatures staggering across the country? Just read on. You'll understand soon enough.

Food Grade Plastic Pails

When the zombies come, one of the first things you'll need to do is take stock of your emergency supplies. You might be safe barricaded in your house for a little bit. So prepare now by stocking up on food and water. Plastic buckets are a great way to store large quantities of food. You can fit 25 pounds of flour in a 5 pound bucket. That'll make a lot of pancakes. But before you rush out to your local hardware store and buy a bunch of brightly hued all-purpose containers, let's talk about food safety. Did you know that some plastic pails are not approved for food contact? This could be because they are colored with unsafe dyes. It could also be because they are made of recycled plastic. Regardless, if they say that they aren't approved for food contact, then don't put your food in them! It could very well turn you into a flesh-craving zombie! Instead, opt for a food-safe container. Most of the plastic pails at Container & Packaging Supply are approved for food contact, meaning that your wheat and sugar will be safe.

Heavy Duty Buckets

Now that we've established that you need to keep your food in safe containers, let's talk about durability. When it comes to durability, not all pails are created equal. Some of those buckets from other stores are only 50 mil thick. That's pretty flimsy. If you want to protect your food AND use your pails to build a reinforced barricade, you're going to want some thicker plastic. Go for the 75-mil or even 90-mil plastic pails. That should give your food and your fortress a little bit more protection.

UN Certification

If, however, you decide to go on the offense, let's talk about how UN certified pails can help you out. Only a few buckets at CPS bear this elite distinction, but they could make all the difference when the zombies come a'drooling. Do you remember what UN certification is? If you want the in-depth explanation, go check out this blog post from last year. In a nutshell, UN codes certify that these containers can carry hazardous materials. When you need to transport dangerous materials, check out this white pail and this black pail. That's right: they will hold hazardous material. If you have a secret recipe for zombie-melting acid, you're going to need some UN certified plastic pails before you can transport the buckets to your refuge in Canada (because, you know, border security will be super tight during the apocalypse).

Do you feel prepared yet? Take this advice, and when the zombies come, you'll be ready with food, shelter, and even a little surprise up your sleeve. It's amazing how versatile plain old plastic pails can be! Someday they may even save your life!
